Tracy Bates RN, BSN, is a registered nurse at the Essential Health – Mount Pleasant location. She has been in nursing for more than 15 years, previously specializing in cardiology and critical care at MUSC. Working in a hospital setting, Tracy saw a real need for individualized care and lifestyle support. Through her own health journey, she discovered a passion for functional medicine and sought further education to find the right kind of medical treatment that worked for her. By changing her diet and lifestyle, and adding targeted supplements, she was able to reverse her gut and hormone issues. She also further honed her skills in personalized medicine when facing her own postpartum struggles and hormonal fluctuations.
She is passionate about educating others in learning the importance of lifestyle changes and support for longevity, anti-aging, and wellness optimization. As a lifelong learner, she is pursuing training in health coaching and is enrolled in the Functional Medicine University to acquire her Functional Medicine Practitioner Certification. Tracy’s clinical expertise includes gut health, personalized supplementation, longevity science, and functional medicine.
Tracy is a true native of the Mount Pleasant area and was born and raised on the Lowcountry coast. Together, she and her wonderful husband have a daughter, a baby boy on the way, a dog, and a cat.
In her free time, Tracy enjoys horseback riding, hunting, boating, and “glamping.”
